Frequently Asked Questions

At Today’s Dental, we hear a lot of questions from our patients, and while some of them are unique to the individual patient’s situation, many of them are common. You can find answers to many of these frequently asked questions here, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to hear from you. Feel free to give our friendly team a call for more information or to schedule an appointment. We’re always happy to help.

How often should I visit the dentist if I don’t have a problem?

We recommend patients visit the dentist every six months, whether they think they “need” to or not. With a checkup and cleaning twice a year, we can remove the plaque and tartar that can cause more serious, costly, and painful issues later on.

Do root canals hurt?

With current options in anesthesia and sedation as well as Dr. Allport’s expert hand, root canal therapy at Today’s Dental is a comfortable restorative procedure. We promise!

How can you help my popping, painful jaw?

A clicking, popping, and painful jaw is a likely indicator of TMJ/TMD or temporomandibular dysfunction. Dr. Allport provides a variety of options in TMJ therapy at Today’s Dental. Let us know you are having jaw pain and we’ll get started with effective therapy right away.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Contact our office and schedule an appointment to discuss your eligibility for dental implants. If you are in good oral and overall health, chances are excellent that you can benefit from comprehensive tooth replacement with implant dentistry.

Do you see children, too?

Yes! Dr. Allport and the team at Today’s Dental welcome the whole family, including your littlest smiles. In fact, we love helping children smile!

I have a broken front tooth. How can you help?

There is a solution that provides a perfect blend of cosmetic and restorative properties. Dental crowns made out of natural-looking materials restore teeth in the front of the smile. Contact us to schedule an appointment in Dayton right away!

What if I’m really nervous visiting the dentist?

The Today’s Dental team understands dental anxiety. That’s why we offer complimentary nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for all of our patients!
